Devalued product due to AI
1 min readI hear in the age of AI, products will get devalued and every product is basically worth nothing. That’s the exaggerated thinking of people working in tech, and I initially agreed with this sentiment, AI can do it all, we’ve reached singularity. But the more I think about this, the more I disagree with it more, here’s why.
At least currently, in early Q2 2025, this is not the case and it’s because this thinking is in a bubble. People who work in tech of course thinks a lot about product, thinks of how AI has made product creation basically a skill-less skill. Using AI, they can whip up a product in hours, have an MVP, well designed interface, and have something to market within the day. It’s that easy to create products, so having a product essentially doesn’t give value because anyone can do it now.
Well yes, AI has lowered the barrier to creating a product so low that you hardly require skills to do it, but at the same time, you have to question if those products are just a show case of novelty, testing, or trying to solve a real problem.
At the same time, do people want to create their own product in order to get a job done, even though the barrier has been lowered dramatically, do people want to learn what’s needed to create a product? We’re in the tech industry, of course we’re away of these things but do you know that there are more people who don’t even know anything about tech?
With AI, there might be an explosion of products, but you sieve out the shit, you might get a handful of useful products. People who buy or sub to the product might have more options to choose from, but your product still has to resonate and be useful to them. AI doesn’t do that, it only enables you to do that.
